Podophyllum occurs as genus of vi mintage of herbaceous perennial plants in the family Berberidaceae, native to eastern Asia (five coinage) & eastern North America (one metal money, Mayapple P. peltatum). It is timberland plants, usually growing within colonies derived from a single root.

A stems develop to 30-40 cm tall, using palmately lobate umbrella-such as leaves up to 20-40 cm diameter using Three-9 shallowly to deeply cut lobes. the plants develop many stems from either a creeping underground rhizome; some stems bear one leaf & don't create any flower or fruit, while flowering stems create a pair or even supplementary leaves by owning One-8 flowers in the axil between the apical leaves. the flowers come white, yellow or even even red, Two-6 cm across by using 6-9 flower petal, & mature into a green, yellow or red overweight fruit Two-Five cm yearn.

All a area of the plant, excepting the fruit, come poisonous. Potentially a fruit, though non hazardously poisonous, could induce unpleasant upset stomach. A substance it contain (podophyllotoxin or podophyllin) is used as a purgative and as a cytostatic. It is when well grown as ornamental plants for their attractive foliage and flowers.
